I shot this while on vacation in Negril, Jamaica. I asked my driver to take me to the most scenic parts of the island. This is a cove along the West End Cliffs; you could see the famous ‘Rick’s Cafe’ from this location. I waited to see if I could get a photo of someone diving off the cliffs into the water, no luck. I guess it was too early in the day? The highest platform jump is 35 feet.
I had the pleasure last month of photographing the marriage of Becky and Kellie! They live in Florida and came to D.C. for their wedding ceremony. Becky was my neighbor in Woodbridge, VA many years ago; I was delighted when she contacted me to photograph her special day!
The ceremony was held at a wonderful location in DuPont Circle – Marriage D.C. The officiate, Tiffany Newman started her business in March of 2010 when Marriage Equality came to Washington. As a partner in an interracial marriage, she could easily relate to the parallels between the current fight for marriage equality in the GLBT community and that of interracial couples of generations past.
We could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The room was perfect; lots of natural light shined through two beautiful stain glass panels. Becky came prepared with Champaign and glasses; the ceremony ended and we had a lovely toast to their future together.
Becky and Kellie, wishing you a long and happy union.
