Recently I headed to Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, Virginia for a photo shoot with Alisha and her daughter Kiana. We were lucky and had absolutely beautiful weather! Meadowlark is one of my favorite locations for family portraits. This 95-acre complex has an extensive array of ornamental gardens, wildflowers, gazebos, a lake and a wooden bridge! Great weather, a photogenic family and my camera . . . All the right ingredients for a good photo shoot. The wide-open space at Meadowlark Gardens was also the perfect location for energetic Kiana: Alisha’s beautiful, and inquisitive 6-year-old daughter.
Kiana jumped, skipped and ran from one spot to the next, stopping only to strike a pose for the camera . . . However, when stopped, Kiana was very careful about where to stand or sit. She didn’t want to be too close to some things in nature. I asked Alisha if she was a girly girl, “She can be,” she said, “ but she does like to pick up worms!” I replied, “I guess that makes her a girly-girl with just a smidgen of Tom Boy!” She laughed, and then nodded in agreement. It was a fun shoot, Alisha’s easygoing and genuine personality only added to the playful atmosphere of the day.
